The French philosopher Gaston Bachelard held that every space inhabited is really a house, statement from which derives at least two considerations defining a position about the architect’s labour. The first one is that this meditation allows us to understand that the condition of house doesn’t relates necessarily with the built but with the inhabited, that can be given in several scales and adopt diverse shapes, such as architecture, city or territory. The second one is that inhabit, if it is really real, is a human experience of wider range than only occupying or using a space; Inhabit is a deep and firmly rooted experience in life, culture and time.

F-VA studio, established on 2000 by the architects Enrique Fernández-Vivancos and Isabel Vernia, works on these two basic premises, taking both on to account, the different scales on which inhabit develops and human centrality as a inalienable starting point for their proposals. This approach stands on a multidisciplinary specialisation hoarded by them in building engineering, urbanism and landscape, coursed at Valencia, Venezia and Barcelona respectively, that on these last years has permitted to carry out interventions in high cultural, social and environmental contexts, achieving thanks to them national and international recognitions such as: 3rd Edition of Mediterranean Landscape Awards, 10th Biennial of European Cities, the JAE Jóvenes Arquitectos Españoles International Exhibition, 11th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial, 2005-06 Comunidad Valenciana Architecture Awards, or the 10th Hyspalit Architecture Awards. Currently Enrique Fernández-Vivancos is Doctor Architect and teaches as Senior Lecturer of Architectural Design at the Universitat Politècnica de València UPV, while Isabel Vernia an architect at the Strategic Environmental Assessment Service of the Generalitat Valenciana.
